C-CERF Awarded to Exodus Refugee

April 7, 2020

Exodus is excited to announce that we have been selected as one of the recipients for the Central Indiana COVID-19 Community Economic Relief Fund. We have been awarded a $100,000 grant to continue our important work of serving refugees and asylees.

The funds received from the CERF-C will allow Exodus the flexibility to support the personal, resources, and services needed to aid refugee clients to make a successful transition to life in the United States, while they face an unprecedented public health crisis.

While Exodus has temporarily closed its physical office, the agency is working diligently to meet the urgent needs in the refugee community remotely. Individuals can call our main number between 9 am-4 pm, Monday through Friday for assistance at 317-921-0836. Some of Exodus’ remote services include: assisting refugee clients who lost their jobs to apply for unemployment, while leveraging our network of 90+ employment partners to help find new job leads; direct financial support for rent, utilities, and food; remote case management; virtual English classes and trainings; and continuing mental health counseling sessions via phone or video chat for clients.

“Funding from the Central Indiana COVID-19 Community Economic Relief Fund will be a stabilizing factor in ensuring our critical services to refugees, asylees, and other humanitarian immigrants can continue during this uncertain time,” says Cole Varga, Executuve Director.

Exodus is fully committed to respond to the critical, emerging needs in the refugee community in light of the spread of COVID-19. And the generosity that was recently received from C-CERF will allow us to do so.
