  • Volunteer and Donation Opportunities

What skills can you offer to assist refugees in need?

Welcoming people who have lost so much requires much more than providing food and shelter. It also means helping them understand how to survive day-to-day life in Indianapolis or South Bend by sharing our experience, friendship and the helping hand that expects nothing in return. Volunteer opportunities at Exodus include helping to provide refugees with needed services while giving volunteers a chance to learn about other cultures and make new friends. Whether you are an individual looking to work one-on-one with a refugee family or a member of a group seeking a new service project, Exodus can use your skills in a variety of ways:

    • Mentor a refugee family on life in America
    • Tutor individual refugees and families in English
    • Transport refugees to needed employment, medical and other social services appointments
    • Help prepare children to enroll in school
    • Translate for medical appointments and school meetings
    • Assist refugees in preparing for job interviews and writing resumes
    • Collect, organize, and distribute donated items
    • Provide child care to parents attending ESL classes or job interviews
